THE WRITING PROJECT

The Writing Project is a rare opportunity for emerging artists, writers, designers and curators to:

  • Collaborate across Australia
  • Experiment across art forms
  • To produce, publish and launch critical arts writing
  • To receive project funding

Adelaide based ARI FELTspace invites applications for The Writing Project, an ambitious arts writing based project fostering experimentation and inter-disciplinary collaboration in critical arts writing across Australia.

Four teams of emerging artists, writers, designers and curators will work together to produce discrete bodies of work as innovative publication, production or exhibition launched at the FELTspace gallery in Adelaide.

Encouraging experimentation and stretching the physical and conceptual limits of arts writing, each project may manifest itself in a writing based form such as artist book, zine, exhibition, online, limited edition print, paste-up, album, video, installation or performance.

Providing an important platform for emerging arts practitioners, developing creative text-based work and bringing new perceptions and forms of arts writing to audiences, the project promises exciting and unpredictable results through 2012-13.

The Writing Project is funded through the Australia Council for the Arts providing artist fees of $575 to each of the 16 successful participants. Each team will receive $1,800 towards project and production costs.

FELTspace invites group applications from artists, curators, writers and designers across Australia. Applications close midnight June 30 2012.

Project Coordinator: Polly Dance
Project Team: Jemima Kemp and Alex Tuffin
Media enquiries: Celeste Aldahn
