EPIC FAIL is a group exhibition that examines various aspects of failure in contemporary art practices. Whether or not failure is the intended goal of the artists work or another part of the artist's process of creation. Failure is just as important as the success for the artists involved in the exhibition.

Andy Best is a multidisciplinary artist, working in painting, sculpture, photography and works on paper. His work has been exhibited in exhibitions in the UK and Australia, including the Tate Britain (How We May Be, 2007), The Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney (Primavera, 2009), the National Gallery of Victoria, Australia (2004: Australian Culture Now, 2004), the Heide Museum of Modern Art (Perfect For Every Occasion: Photography Today, 2007) and Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne (You Must Have Been in Strange Places, 2005). Other exhibitions have included the Art Gallery of South Australia (2006), Greenaway Art Gallery, Adelaide (2009), Stills Gallery, Sydney (2006), 24HR Art, Darwin (2004), the Australian Experimental Art Foundation (2003), the Contemporary Art Centre of South Australia (2005), and the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (2003).

Best was awarded an Anne & Gordon International Visual Arts Scholarship in 2006, studied a MFA at Chelsea School of Art, London. Artist's Website

Peter McKay is known both as artist and for his curatorial projects, having worked as manager of 2004 SALA Festival, co-director at Downtown Art Space and curator at the Contemporary Art Centre of South Australia where he is currently based. In 2004 he participated in Surface Tension at the Australian Centre for Photography in Sydney, and in 2006 featured in Primavera curated by Aaron Seeto for the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney.

Recently, Peter has held exhibitions at the Linden Contemporary Art Centre in Melbourne, at Canberra Contemporary Arts Spaces, Greenaway Art Gallery and GRANTPIRRIE in Sydney. His exhibition at GRANTPIRRIE last year featured work in his ongoing series titled Permanent Rainbow, which is Next Wave's February work in the Next Wave Time Lapse series at Federation Square.

Peter McKay graduated from the South Australian School of Art UniSA in 2003, completing a Bachelor of Visual Arts with a major in History and Theory. 

Monte Masi is a Goodwood-based artist living in Adelaide. He works predominately with video and performance. In recent years he has exhibited in a variety of gallery and artist-run spaces, including CACSA and Downtown Art Space (SA), PICA (WA) and Seventh Gallery, (VIC). He is a current Master of Visual Arts candidate at the University of South Australia, investigating self-disclosure in online video and its relationship to 20th century performance and ritual.

Joshua Searson started his liaison with printmaking when he began studying at Adelaide Centre of the Arts in 2006 and was drawn to the unlimited possibilities that the various techniques, such as etching and screenprinting had to offer.Completing his honours at SASA in 2010, Joshua's work now aims to shed a new light on male subjectivity, touching on themes such as the quest for mastery, and the inevitability of failure. Josh enjoys combining different printmaking techniques, and experimenting on non-traditional print surfaces, whilst still having respect for the masters of the discipline.

Katrina Simmons is an Adelaide artist, writer and lecturer. In 2009, she completed a studio-based PhD on the generative potential of failure within contemporary art practice. Amongst other things, her thesis suggests failure is a disruptive system of enablement producing knowledge and practices that are "unmeasurable". She sees this as a good thing. Ongoing preoccupations include "unbuilt" works and other traces, models, and writing alternate narratives of famous artistic lives.

Curator: Logan Macdonald is an emerging artist; he completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) in 2007 from South Australian School of Art at Uni SA. He is currently a Co-Director of the Artist Run Initiative - FELTspace. He also works as the weekend gallery and website manager for the Contemporary Art Centre of South Australia. Logan Macdonald has recently been appointed the Curator of the Carclew Youth Arts Exhibition Program for 2010.
