LOOPS


FELTspace & Doheny Projects are extremely pleased to present Loops, a two-part exhibition including screen based works curated by James L Marshall. An ode to the 70’s Off Beat film screenings of New York and San Francisco, Loops will be presented over two Friday nights beginning at midnight.

Heath Franco
Heath Franco is a Sydney based artist who graduated with a B.F.A. (Drawing) at the College of Fine Arts, University of NSW. Franco has exhibited extensively within Sydney including Firstdraft Gallery, MOP Projects, Parramatta Artists Studios and DB Project. In May Franco will exhibit at the Tokyo Art Fair 2012 and be the first Australian artist invited by the Director for ‘project in PROJECTS’, presenting large scale works that are too ambitious for a gallery booth. Franco is represented by Galerie pompom, Sydney and Tristian Koenig, Melbourne.

Julian Hoeber
Julian Hoeber is a Los Angeles based artist who graduated with an M.F.A. at the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California. Hoeber has held solo exhibitions at Praz-Delavallade (Paris), Silverman Gallery (San Francisco), Blum & Poe (Los Angeles) and Hammer Projects: Hammer Museum (Los Angeles). Hoeber has work in the public collections of Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, Museum of Modern Art, New York and is represented by Blum & Poe, Los Angeles and Praz-Delavallade, Paris.

Simon Kentgens
Simon Kentgens is a Netherlands based artist who graduated with an M.F.A. at AKV St.Joost, Breda. Kentgens has exhibited extensively throughout Europe, undertaken residencies in China, France and the United Kingdom and is the co-founder of art blog Piet Mondriaan.

Kurt Augustyns
Kurt Augustyns is a self-taught filmmaker and photographer. After making several independent documentaries, he is now known for his extensive work with the Belgian band Soulwax.

Erin Coates
Erin is a Perth-based artist and curator. She holds an M.F.A. from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Her artwork has been exhibited in shows in China, Canada, Serbia and Australia, including exhibitions at the National Portrait Gallery of Australia, Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery and Perth Institute of Contemporary Art.

PASS IT ON

“Pass It On” is a group exhibition wherein 10 artists have been invited to participate. Those artists then invite 10 artists whom they admire. Those 10 invite 10 more and so on. This cycle continues for 30 days.

How It Works/Rules

If you receive an invitation, please forward the email to 10 artists you admire.

Installation/Opening/ Exhibition

Period You are responsible for the installation of your own work. FELTspace will be open Thursday 31st May between 1pm and 9pm to install your work. No work is to be installed on the walls and there will be no alteration of the space. Power outlets are first come first serve, and special arrangements such as monitors are your responsibility. The opening reception is on Friday, June 1st from 6pm to 9pm.

Take Down

YOU MUST pick up your work on Sunday June 3rd between 10am and 6pm. FELTspace will be holding an Art Swap Meet on Sunday 3rd of June from 1pm so if you wish to swap/sell works with other artists this is the perfect opportunity. *Please make your own arrangements to install and de-install on the appointed days. We do not have the ability to make special arrangements for your work. Likewise, all works will be recycled, traded, or discarded if you miss the pickup window.
