Luke Aleksandrow’s practice is concerned with the breakage of ceramic objects and the silence that follows. The breaking of ceramic objects acts as a rhythmic device to contrast the ambient silence of the environment.

The exhibition features a video of the artist breaking over 30 ceramic objects along the way while driving to Adelaide from Canberra. The ceramic objects that are part of this work are Australian-made, situating the breakage of the ceramics within the Australian sound/land scape and its material and cultural context.
