FELTspace MAIL ART project as part of Structural Integrity, Nextwave Festival 2010
FELTspace @ Structural Integrity Next Wave Festival 2010, Melbourne:
PROJECT COMPLETED. THE FOLLOWING TEXT REMAINS AS A RECORD OF THE PROJECT
Dear FELTspace Family and Friends,
The FELTspace committee is calling for expressions of interest from members of the South Australian contemporary arts community who would like to contribute a small scale artwork for inclusion in this year's Next Wave Festival. The work will be exhibited in the FELTspace pavilion atStructural Integrity, a large-scale exhibition and cultural exchange initiative that is a keynote event of Next Wave 2010.
Amongst other projects, FELTspace will be coordinating a mail art project. Artworks will be small scale: 2D works at postcard size (240 x 130 x 5mm max) and 3D works at 240mm x 240mm x 240mm. 2D works could be mailed as a postcard or sent in an envelope or POSTpak. 3D works can be sent as a small package. Blank, pre-addressed postcards will be distributed around Adelaide. We encourage creative use of the size restrictions: possibilities could include traditional media, photography, digital images, collage, ready-mades, moving image works (DVD), sound (CD) etc.
We would love it if as many of you as possible get involved, support FELTspace and promote contemporary art from Adelaide in this national and international context. Your artwork can be posted direct to FELTspace at Next Wave in Melbourne.

FELTspace are asking participating artists to pay for the postage of the artworks (55c for 2D works) but have a small postal budget that can be accessed by individual negotiation.
Works will be exhibited in the FELTspace pavilion at the Meat Market, North Melbourne, from Thursday 13th to Sunday 30th of May, 2010. Artwork can be picked up from FELTspace the first week of June on request.
As the project is quickly approaching we require anyone interested in submitting work to reply to this email ASAP to register your participation, no later than FRIDAY 23rd April. We encourage anyone who has been involved in any way with FELTspace over the past few years to contribute to the project.
Postcards will be available for pick up at FELTspace, selected locations around Adelaide or stick to the dimensions above and get creative. Feel free to contact one of the FELTspace team for individual inquiries.
