8 AUGUST - 10 SEPTEMBER 2022

FRONT GALLERY

FRANKLIN HOLFELD

An all-new previously unseen exhibition of artworks created by the one-and-only Franklin Holfeld (with help from and collaboration with many others, knowing and unknowing) using materials whose matter may have previously existed in the universe, but has since been shaped according to a dialogue between Franklin's ever-shifting sense of being in the world and the ever-shifting world itself (of which YOU are a part of!)

What will Franklin's exhibition contain? What will you see? What will you touch, smell, hear, taste? What will you learn? How will it shape you? Will you find it freeing? Will it introduce you to previously-unrealised restraints on your freedom? Will you be yourself? Will you have fun? Will you make friends? Will you lose everything, but in a way that gives you so much more? Will you experience emotions you view as positive? Or emotions you view as negative? Both? Neither? Emotions you come to understand as a different, third, thing? Will you enter the room and be suddenly met with a complete lack of sensation, a numbness so total and erasing that you are, in essence, the same as you were prior to entering the room? Will it be wholly unique, like nothing else, unrelatable to anything that existed before, or will ever exist after? Or will it be entirely derivative, instantly placable in reference to the entire history of art as you know it? Will it be legible or inscruitible? Will any of Franklin's jokes land? Will it be a room full of objects, mostly paintings? The answer to all these questions - and more! - obtainable by visiting in the front room of Feltspace (12 Compton Street, Tarntanyangga, Kaurna Yarta, Adelaide, South Australia) during opening hours, between the 17th of August and 10th of September! Come visit and see what happens!!! (hopefully something!)

ARTIST BIO

Franklin Holfeld was discovered in the year 19XX when scientists uncovered a glowing capsule from deep within the Earth's crust. Some believed Franklin to be an emissary from the far future, sent to rewrite time; others believed them to be planted by aliens, who's release would trigger the transformation of the human race. The disagreement between these two sides resulted in a cataclysmic skism that destroyed all who knew of it, except Franklin, who didn't understand why they were on Earth either. In 2021 Franklin completed a Bachelor of Visual Art at Adelaide Central School of Art, and has since proven to integrate into everyday society reasonably well, with no signs of history-altering abnormalities to date.
