Isaac Kairouz employs a practice-led creative research methodology to interrogate intersectional experiences and queer identity construction. Kairouz’s research consists of a large amount of diverse artworks which ultimately constitute playful installation-based experiences. This work examines the interplay between technology and queered processes of identity construction. Kairouz’s creative research operates at the nexus of spatial practice, play and fantasy; in doing so, recontextualises intersectional experience within a fine art environment and discourse. The installations are presented in an accessible manner, allowing the audience to relinquish reasonable thought and engage with an outlandish fantasy narrative presented in a naïve playful environment. In this way, material research will queer the audience’s pre-conceived notions of identity construction and emphasise the viewer’s own experience. By drawing upon theoretical research and the artist’s lived experience, Kairouz’s work engages culturally and socially, advocating for queer representation and intersectional experiences.
