James Nguyen (NSW) explores the many contradictions of the body and the object via a range of material and conceptual devices. The Man With The Movie Camera will be presented at FELTspace throughout April 2014. This is an autobiographical series inadvertently inspired by Dziga Vertov's silent film of the same title. Through the apparatus of cinematography, the artist is hoisted up on a crane to document the performance of recording footage. Essentially, the artist, the assistants, the cameras and the projections are all appendages to the performance. James is currently doing an MFA by research at the Sydney College of the Arts.
