KAIJERN KOO & MADELEINE MINACK
GOLDEN MACARONI

The trickiest questions always parade around like nothing but silly musings. Schrodinger asking what life is, Newton cocking his head at all the fallen fruit wondering why it is nestled down here in the grass and no longer suspended up in the branches, silhouetted against that vast, old sky. Every philosophical or scientific query seems to boil down to sound uncannily like things children and stoners might pose. It makes them all terribly easy to dismiss. And it probably doesn’t help that, in the backs of our minds, the dread of recognition lurks; the recognition that those trite little questions threaten so very much.

Weary of the myriad of existing cultural hierarchies rooted in capital and class structures, golden macaroni gathers the miscellanea of what is considered lowbrow or worthless, toying with the lineages of objects and concepts to re-examine what informs and influences us. That which is so often skimmed over suddenly reveals the potential for whole worlds of thought – sometimes wondrous and charming, sometimes bewitching, unnerving, destabilising…
