Going back
These places feel different
Was I traveling or returning home?
Observing and judging surroundings
Making honey with my dad
I haven’t seen him in 2 years
These trees were planted before I left
They are now standing tall
Heading to the city where I lived for 12 years
Beautiful in its own way
Abandoned and over populated
It felt out of balance
So much rubbish
People were rushing into something new
While forgetting to take care
Little respect
There was a woman on a train that shared her food with me
While we travelled from the city to the Carpathian mountains
The air was filled with bugs
There were many native plants and grasses
I was happy to see the biodiversity
I didn’t last long without antihistamines
Revealing contrasts and duality
Between city and rural living
I judged and observed
This video shows moments from the trip to my home country, Ukraine. It captures the shapes and colours that drew me in as I travelled through the city, village and mountains. It represents my mind observing, appreciating and rejecting the present moment, nature and habits of the modern society.
