Liv Spiers (SA) A.PART

A.part is a site-specific exchange between FELTspace and its surrounding community. Light absorbed by the gallery on Friday 10th January 2020 6-7pm is released back into Compton Street a year later. This experiment in slow cinema meditates on the beauty of everyday life, featuring beloved companion FELTtree. The gallery is a kind of battery that absorbs and releases creative energy in conversation with its community, just as it stores and projects light in exchange with its surrounds. But this light is a year old. These ghosts never heard of lockdown or facemasks or social distancing. There are temporal and perceptual barriers to recognising ourselves. Now notions of being both a part of, and apart from, a community are more complex than expected.

Liv Spiers enjoys a multi-disciplinary practice with writing and filmmaking at its heart. She is a freelance writer, artist and curator. She served as a FELTspace Co-Director 2019-21.
