'Art proper, in other words, emerges when sensation can detach itself and gain an autonomy from its creator and its perceiver when something of the chaos from which it is drawn can breathe and have a life of its own'[1]

- Elizabeth Grosz, Chaos, Teritory, Art: Deleuze and the Framing of the Earth

Following on from O'Keeffe's recent body of work exploring the concept of infinity as an artistic catalyst, Harmonic Oscillators explores the tendency for infinity to establish itself as an unfixed evolution, subject to perpetual variance. The work constitutes a predetermined and ordered logic that, through spectator interaction, operates as an open system that is subject to continual difference determined by the spectators movement through the space. Utilising light, sound and reflection, Harmonic Oscillators demonstrates the inherent nature of order within chaos as well as the tendency for systems and structures to decline into disorder, allowing the potential for infinite deviations.

This work employs sound and light in an attempt to consolidate the divide between structure and disorder, to demonstrate the infinite potential for either state to manifest at any given moment.
