Margaret Lloyd (SA)ég skil ekki, or I don't understand

Opening - 5:30 PM - Wednesday, 4th November

Artist Talks - 6:00pm

Running - 5th November 2015 - 21 November 2015

Margaret Lloyd is an Adelaide artist who deals with storytelling and identity. With an interest in a wide range of media, she works with drawing, embroidery, bookmaking and portraiture to create works that are personal and contemplative. In 2014, she was the artist in residence in Hrisey, Iceland. Lloyd has previously exhibited at Adelaide galleries such as Format and Fontanelle, as well as in group shows in Melbourne.

The current show, Eg skil ekki, or I don’t understand, explores the loneliness and isolation associated with residencies in lonely, isolated places, surrounded by snow and without any wifi. A series of paintings explores landmarks as varied as gates and mountains, while artist-made books are used to give a more in-depth explanation of fear and attempts to make art while scared and alone. The show is presented as an installation to provide visitors with the opportunity to sit down and peruse the books.
