James Cochran, aka. Jimmy. C, played a major role in the development of aerosol art in South Australia, co-ordonating workshops and mural projects throughout city and regional areas during the last ten years.

In 1996 he completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the University of South Australia with first class Honours, and went on to complete a Master of Visual Arts in 2002.

James has held solo exhibitions each year from 1996 to 2010, and in 2002 was awarded the Arts SA residency at Artspace in Sydney. In 2003 he exhibited at Gitte Weise gallery in Sydney and in the following year participated in group exhibtions at the Art Gallery of South Australia.

In 2005-6, he lectured painting and drawing at the University of SA and at the Roma Mitchel Arts Centre in Adelaide.

In 2006 James was invited to exhibit in France, in Lille at Tripostal and then Paris at the Point Ephemere. He was a finalist in the Archibald Prize 2008, and held a solo exhibition at Boutwell Draper gallery, Sydney in the same year. In 2009 exhibited at Lindberg Contemporary Art in Melbourne, and participated in the groups' exhibitions in China and London.

In 2010 he will exhibit in Spain and Melbourne. He continues to develop his work focusing on the human subject in the context of the urban environment.
